When Prestige Auto Works began the
process of frame and chassis selection, the Company examined the
original Willys design as well as the designs of several of our
competitors. We felt that in order to obtain both rigidity and
maintain low weight a different approach to chassis construction
was necessary. A truss design would provide the desired
characteristics.
Following the initial design
phase, a full scale wood mockup was produced to verify the
concept and to check the fit of various engine and transmission
combinations and suspension components. Special tools and jigs
were developed to simplify fabrication.

and chassis appear on the following pages. |
