Today the Willys Coupe is an icon in ³drag racing
(select pictures) and street rod circles. To
many, a street rod is the best of two worlds ... an ³old style car (shape & vintage) with modern conveniences and equipment, making it as safe to drive as today's road vehicles. Basically, a street rod is any pre-1949 vehicle that has been upgraded in some way. The key word is "upgraded", meaning something about the vehicle has been modernized. There's room for a lot of variation here. Some street rods may look like an original car from the outside, even the interior, but chances are one or more working parts (the engine, transmission, brakes, steering system, front and rear drive trains, tires) have been changed to more modern and safer equipment. Willys are becoming more and more difficult to find. At Prestige Auto
Works we have
maintained the original Willys look and the original dimensions as much
as practicable. Details such as stamping lines on the firewall and wheel
wells were reproduced. The frame, chassis, and the interior are modern.
We are developing a large number of optional parts which will give
owners the opportunity to do a lot of individual customizing. |
