| The accuracy of
any finished part depends on how well the mould pieces are held together.
Tiny alignment problems between mould sections can have a dramatic effect on the finished
part. The slightest continuity problem between two connected curved surfaces might be easily visible in the reflected surface of the finished part. To
ensure precise alignment of adjoining mould sections, special close tolerance
alignment pins are inserted every 6 to 8 inches. Once |

properly aligned, the
pieces are bolted together. Bolt spacing
is 3 to 6 inches. The thickness of the mould flanges also helps maintain the
proper alignment |
